Our Inception
Margam Centre for Arts was founded in 2019 by Shruthy Ramamurthi to enrich and cultivate talents through systematic training to advance, respect and admire the rich culture and beauty of two divine Indian art forms - Bharatanatyam and Yoga.
The meaning of Maarga in Sanskrit is “a path leading to” or ”following the right path to achieve a goal” Margam is also the presentation format of the Bhrathanatyam dance form.
Yoga also has a path (Mārgam) for every individual. It is left to the individual to choose the right path and to attain self realisation.
Our Philosophy
Our teaching methodologies include a traditional, holistic approach where the art is taught at a basic fundamental level following a repertoire (focus on technical detail).
One of the core philosophies of Margam is that dance & Yoga enhances one’s mental and physical health and can therefore be learnt and performed at any age.
Connecting the body, mind and soul, Margam strives to achieve harmony through Bharathanatyam and Yoga practice.

Our Goal
Adult classes are structured to be enjoyable and challenging with the goal of promoting a fit, injury free, healthy lifestyle while learning an ancient art form. Adult classes are suitable for all adults irrespective of prior Bharatanatyam training. Yoga and strength techniques are incorporated to push the students physically while simultaneously growing with their Bharatanatyam training.
The kid’s Bharathanatyam classes at Margam bring a fun, new approach to traditional arts and are one of its kind. The children learn rhythm, musicality and build artistry, learning through dance activities, and being exposed to movement. This will gradually build to a Bharatanatyam repertoire and structure over time without forcing the children into it immediately.
Our habitat
Our focus has been on providing students a safe, accessible and supportive environment. Through body movement, breath & the mind we aim to inspire them to explore themselves physically, emotionally and mentally. We deepen student awareness and practices that allows them to develop a passionate and sustainable holistic life. with yoga.
